Equality and diversity
At Rhodes Green CE Primary School, we are committed to creating a school community where everyone is valued, respected and able to belong.
We celebrate the fact that every member of our school community is unique. We want our children to grow up understanding and appreciating differences between people, developing the respect, empathy and confidence needed to live and thrive in modern Britain.
Equality and diversity are woven throughout school life. Through our curriculum, PSHCE, collective worship, books, experiences and wider opportunities, children learn about different cultures, faiths, families, backgrounds and identities. We encourage children to ask questions, challenge stereotypes and understand why discrimination and prejudice are never acceptable.
Our DREAM Values, particularly Respect and Empathy, support children to recognise the importance of treating others with kindness and dignity, even when their experiences, beliefs or perspectives may be different from their own.
As a school, we are committed to meeting our duties under the Equality Act 2010, eliminating discrimination, advancing equality of opportunity and fostering positive relationships between people.
Our Christian vision to “shine as stars in the world” reminds us that every individual is precious and has something valuable to contribute.
At Rhodes Green, we don’t simply want children to tolerate difference – we want them to understand it, respect it and celebrate it, helping them become compassionate, responsible young people who make a positive difference in the world around them.
