E-safety

At Rhodes Green CE Primary School, we recognise that technology is an important and exciting part of children’s lives. Our priority is to ensure that pupils have the knowledge, confidence and skills to use technology safely, responsibly and positively.

E-Safety is not taught as a one-off lesson. It is embedded throughout our Computing and PSHCE curriculum and is further strengthened through the Cranmer Education Trust Safeguarding Curriculum, ensuring children regularly revisit important messages as they grow and their use of technology changes.

Children learn about topics including privacy and personal information, passwords, online communication, social media, gaming, cyberbullying, digital footprints, inappropriate content, misinformation and how to recognise when something online may not be safe.
Most importantly, we teach children what to do when something worries them. We want every child to understand that they should stop, tell a trusted adult and ask for help, and that they will be listened to and supported.

We also recognise that keeping children safe online requires a strong partnership between school and home. Technology changes quickly, and we aim to support parents and carers with guidance and resources to help them have open conversations about children’s online lives and establish safe habits at home.

Our aim is not to make children afraid of the online world, but to equip them to navigate it with confidence, curiosity and good judgement, becoming safe and responsible digital citizens.
