Welcome to Oak Class, where our Year 5 children are encouraged to grow in confidence, independence and ambition as they move through upper Key Stage 2.

In Oak Class, we have high expectations for every child. We encourage pupils to challenge themselves, take greater responsibility for their learning and develop the resilience to keep going when things become difficult.

Throughout Year 5, children continue to deepen their knowledge and skills in reading, writing and mathematics, alongside a rich wider curriculum that gives them opportunities to investigate, debate, create, problem-solve and explore the world around them.

As children become some of the older pupils in school, we also encourage them to recognise the important role they play within our Rhodes Green family. They are supported to become positive role models, demonstrate our DREAM Values and make choices that reflect the young people they are becoming.

Year 5 is also about raising aspirations. We want children to discover their strengths, develop new interests and begin to think about the opportunities that lie ahead, approaching new experiences with confidence and enthusiasm.

Most importantly, we want every child in Oak Class to believe in what they can achieve and feel proud of the progress they make.

Like the mighty oak, we are growing strong roots, reaching higher and preparing to stand tall.
