About Us

A Message from the Headteacher

Welcome to Rhodes Green CE Primary School. It is a privilege to welcome you to our school at such an exciting moment in our journey. Rhodes Green represents far more than a new name; it marks the beginning of a new chapter built on ambition, opportunity and a shared commitment to giving every child the very best start in life.

At Rhodes Green, relationships are at the heart of everything we do. We want every child to feel safe, valued and inspired to achieve more than they ever thought possible. We know that children thrive when they feel they belong, and we are proud to be a school where kindness, respect and high expectations sit side by side.

Our Christian vision, “Shine as stars in the world,” reminds us that every child has something unique to offer. Through our DREAM Values- Determination, Respect, Empathy, Aspiration and Morals- we help children to develop not only academically, but also as caring, resilient and confident young people who are ready to make a positive difference in the world.

As Headteacher, I am incredibly proud of our dedicated staff, supportive families and wonderful children. Together, we are creating a school where learning is exciting, every child is challenged to achieve their potential and success is celebrated in all its forms.

Whether you are a prospective parent, a current member of our school community or simply visiting our website, I hope you gain a sense of the warmth, ambition and family spirit that make Rhodes Green such a special place.

If you are an education professional, or would like to join this great profession, you’ll also find links to our work as a Teaching School Hub, East Manchester Teaching Hub and our work on system leadership, school-to-school support, research and development, and training the best teachers through our SCITT, Manchester Nexus.

I look forward to welcoming you to Rhodes Green CE Primary School and sharing this exciting journey with you.

Life at Rhodes Green

School life at Rhodes Green is about giving children the experiences, opportunities and confidence to discover what they can do.

Alongside a broad and engaging curriculum, children are encouraged to explore their creativity, develop sporting talents, take on responsibility and leadership, and grow their understanding of the wider world. Learning is designed to build knowledge and curiosity while helping children become increasingly confident and independent.

We want children to enjoy coming to school, feel proud of what they achieve and discover interests and talents that stay with them beyond primary school. Success comes in many forms, and we celebrate the progress, effort, character and achievements of every child.

Life at Rhodes Green is therefore about much more than lessons. It is about creating memorable experiences, opening up opportunities and preparing children to step confidently into whatever comes next.

Our Story

From Little Heaton to Rhodes Green

Rhodes Green CE Primary School begins a new chapter in the life of a school that has served local children and families for generations.

Formerly Little Heaton CE Primary School, our new name connects the school more clearly with the community in which it stands. Rhodes is where many of our children live, grow, play and belong, and the name reflects a renewed sense of pride, confidence and shared ownership in the school and its future.

While our name and identity have changed, our roots remain. We continue to build on our Christian foundation and longstanding place within the community, while looking forward with fresh ambition for the children and families we serve.

Our new identity reflects that balance: rooted in place and history, shaped by faith, and focused firmly on growth, learning and the future.

A new name. A new chapter. A school proudly rooted in Rhodes Green.

Message from the Trust

Our work is guided by Ambition, Excellence and Community. We are ambitious for every child, every member of staff and every school. We are committed to excellence in teaching, learning, leadership and care, and we believe strong, inclusive communities give children and adults the confidence, security and sense of belonging they need to thrive.

As a Church of England Trust, grounded in Christian values and open to all, we proudly serve children and families of all faiths and denominations and those of none. We exist to transform the life chances of children and young people through excellent education and great schools. We want every child to learn well, achieve, progress with confidence and become a good person, a good friend and neighbour, and a citizen whom we are proud to know.

Being part of Cranmer does not mean that every school must become the same. Every school in our family has its own history, character and community. Headteachers, leadership teams and Local Governing Committees remain deeply connected to those communities and are empowered to preserve and develop what makes their schools distinctive.

Our partnership is based on working with schools. Rhodes Green benefits from shared expertise across our primary and secondary schools, central teams and professional networks, with support tailored to the school’s context, priorities and stage of development. At the same time, Rhodes Green contributes its own ideas, experience and practice to our wider family. Every school strengthens the Trust, just as the Trust strengthens every school.

Great schools also depend on great people. Through collaboration across our schools, Trust Leadership Communities, Manchester Nexus SCITT, East Manchester Teaching School Hub and the Cranmer Institute, colleagues have access to shared expertise, professional development and opportunities to learn throughout their careers.

There is a real sense of optimism and renewal at Rhodes Green. Our shared responsibility is to build on strong foundations, continue improving provision, support staff and families, and create a school of which the whole community can be proud.

We are immensely proud that Rhodes Green CE Primary School is part of Cranmer Education Trust. Together, we will support its ambitions and ensure that every child is safe, happy, inspired to learn and given every opportunity to shine as stars in the world.

We want the best,
you want the best,
our children deserve the best.
